What is the scholarship?
Scholarships are for connecting horse-crazy girls with the chance to ride a horse.

They offer Wyoming girls between 7 and 12 horseback-riding lessons, gear, and art lessons for 1 year, in order to help them have a chance to learn to ride and connect with Western culture.

Scholarships include everything a cowgirl needs to bond with a horse
Horseback Riding Lessons
Horseback riding lessons and overall equine care instruction for one year given by insured, professional riding instructors in Casper and Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Cowgirl Gear
Each Cowgirl will be outfitted! She will be provided purple boots, cowboy hat, jacket, saddle pad, and other tack as needed. Everything she needs for her lessons!
Art Lessons
Art classes will be provided by our professional artist and illustrator, Roslan. Pssst, she's an expert at western art and drawing and painting horses!

Who we serve
Wyoming girls between 7 and 12 are invited to apply for the year-long horseback riding lesson scholarship. Instructors are in Casper and Cheyenne, so applicants should be close enough to one of those cities to drive to lessons on a weekly (or every-other-week) basis. (Applications open July 7, 2026)
How it Works

Fill out the application
Sign into your Google account (yes, a Google account is required). Review the questions your daughter needs to answer on video, and record her application video.

Include the Video
Upload the video into the form. Then fill out your part of the application as her parent or guardian.

We'll contact you
Our board members will review the applications, and notify you if you are selected for a personal interview to continue the application process.

FAQ
1 / Who is eligible?
If you a girl between the ages of 7 and 12 OR you will be turning 7 in the current year or were 12, now 13, in the current year you are eligible to apply. At this time, we only have riding instructors that have been vetted in the Casper and Cheyenne areas. If you don't live right in Cheyenne or Casper but live close enough that are willing to drive you can also apply.
2 / How do I apply?
Applications will be submitted online, just click the button on this page. They open July 7th and close August 8th, 2026. You will submit a video of the applicant answering the questions listed on the application. There are additional questions for the parents or guardians to fill out and answer on the attached form. Scholarship recipients will be notified the last week of August.
What are the requirements to win the buckle?
To win the Violet Cowgirl Buckle is all about lesson attendance. Frequency of lessons is either weekly or every other week and will be agreed to between the instructor and the scholarship recipients. Only 10% of the total lessons scheduled can be missed. If weather causes a cancellation, or the instructor must cancel, it will not count against the rider's percentage.
4 / Do I need to own a horse?
This is the best answer of all...NO! Both instructors have horses that are safe and will be ridden by the scholarship recipients.
